NFL Week 14 Picks

Indianpolis Colts @ Tennessee Titans: What happened to these teams? Oh yes, injuries. In the past weeks I've been cheering for Peyton Manning hoping he would come out of his funk, but to no avail. What's going on with this guy? Did he finally realize that Marvin Harrison doesn't play football anymore? Or is it that Joseph Addai is on the shelf? Well it is what it is and you have to make the most out of what you have. Stop forcing the ball in tight spots Peyton. Well lucky for the Colts they play the Titans. Titans offense has been non-existent with Vince Young and Kerry Collins nursing their wounds. The Titans would have to rely on their defense to pick up the slack, but since their offense including Chris Johnson have been shut out of the end zone, it is less likely they will win this game without a proven starting quarterback. Colts win their first game in december.

Cleveland Browns @ Buffalo Bills: Both of these teams have a stud running backs. Will Peyton Hillis run all over the Bills defense or will it be Fred Jackson? I don't this game being a high scoring game, because it will all depend on the amount of snow thats on the ground in Buffalo. I like Buffalo's chances in this one only because it is a home game, and they've finally lost a game where they weren't really in it. So this week it will be back to basics week in Buffalo, unless of course Steve Johnson lets another ball drop right through his hands. Bills win?

Green Bay Packers @ Detroit Lions: Packers are playing indoors and not in cold frigid thundra and they are playing the Lions? Wow could this be anymore one sided game? I know the Lions will score more points against the Packers than what the Vikings did few weeks back but in the end Packers will still manage to win this game as long as all their players are still healthy.

New York Giants @ Minnesota Vikings: The question is will Brett Favre play? If he does then the Giants will have an easy game ahead of them. With an injured and senile Brett Favre the Giants will have plenty of opportunities to score touchdowns. However, if Tarvaris Jackson is playing, the Vikings may have a chance to pull off a victory as long as Jackson makes smart decisions and Adrian Peterson is carrying bulk of the load. The Giants are too good of a team to lose to the Vikings and Giants will win this week.

Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers: The Steelers offense should send a gift basket of Head & Shoulder shampoo to Troy Polamalu. His remarkable play on defense helped Steelers win their game against the Ravens. This week's opponent the Bengals who swept the season series against the Steelers in 2009 should be looking to lose yet another game to Ben Roethlisberger. In Week 13 the Bengals showed up late to the game and it cost them big time. Playing just second half of the game does not help, especially playing a good team like the Saints. So what are the chances for them to beat the Steelers? I would say little to none. I am expecting this game to be dog fight with the Steelers winning.

Oakland Raiders @ Jacksonville Jaguars: The way the Oakland Raiders have been playing against their own division, I would have picked them to win this game against the Jaguars, but the only problem for the Raiders is that it is a 1pm game, 3000 miles from home. In recent years teams travelling from West to East do not fair well, especially when it is a 1pm EST game. Jaguars win in a close game.

Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers: The Panthers are a team of the past now. They outright suck and they play the Falcons. So unless Matt Ryan suffers an injury I don't see Falcons losing another game for a long time. They would only lose this game if they keep giving the Panthers the ball on their 5 yard line and let them punch it in. Otherwise the Falcons will be very dominant throughout the game and I am expecting a very one sided blow out. I have a feeling Roddy White will have a career game against the lowly Panthers in this game. Oh yes Michael Turner & Jason Snelling will most likely rack up a lot of yard in this game as well. Falcons win this game easily.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Washington Redskins: Bucs lost a tough game against the Falcons this week. So far it seems the Bucs can beat teams that suck, so should they win this game considering that the Redskins suck or at least are borderline? I would say so. It is a good bounce back game for Josh Freeman and Blount. Washington got run over by not one but 2 running backs in Week 13 and I expect the same happening against the Bucs in week 14. Buccaneers win.

St. Louis Rams @ New Orleans: No one would've thought or even expected the St. Louis Rams to be 6-6 and leading their division. But here they are with a rookie quarterback. So this week they play the Saints, do they have a chance? no way. Saints are just too good of a team to let a 6-6 team beat them, let alone beat them at home. Saints win this game easily. I think this game might be a breakout game for Reggie Bush.

Seattle Seahawks @ San Francisco 49ers: Ah both of these teams are garbage. I personally do not like either of these teams. Both of these teams need a solid quarterback and they are 2 or 3 years away from going deep in the playoffs. The only thing good about being in NFC West is that your division sucks and you can win the division even with a losing record and I am thinking it will happen this year. 49ers are better at home right? Or was it Seahawks are horrible on the road? Ah 49ers win this game, by a field goal.

New England Patriots @ Chicago Bears: Wow, what a shalacking the Patriots put on the Jets. It was just painful to watch the game. The Patriots defense came out of no where and it was more so mistakes by the Jets than Patriots defense. So do the Bears have a chance against the potent offense of the Patriots? Maybe? I doubt it though, the Patriots are too good and they have some kind of a run game with Danny Woodhead. I except him to be more of a factor in this game because you never know the weather in Chicago. Bears would have to stay true to their run game just to keep Tom Brady on the sideline or else they may end up experiencing what the Jets just experienced. Patriots win.

Miami Dolphins @ New York Jets: Both of these teams lost, while I did not except the Jets to lose in the manner they did. Dolphins need help, not sure with what position but I do not except them to win this week against the Jets. Rex Ryan will ask for nothing less than blood on the field this week after their embarassing loss to the Patriots on Monday Night. I except the Jets to do what the Patriots did to them.

Denver Broncos @ Arizona Cardinals: Both of these teams are coming off of loses. Arizona hasn't won a game in a really long time. Would this matchup against the Broncos mean they are better than the Broncos at least? Broncos have too many weapons on offense to let that happen. Broncos can't seem to make up their mind when it comes to playing a decent football game. They have been inconsistent on both sides of the ball. This week against the Cardinals they have a good opportunity to stop their losing streak. Broncos win.

Kansas City Chiefs @ San Diego Chargers: Boy, what a surprise, Chargers who never lose in the month of December with Philip Rivers finally lost to the Oakland Raiders. San Diego is type of a team that pounces of teams early and relies on their defense to hold off teams. Also with Philip Rivers and new set of weapons on offense he can manage to get the offense to score. But, here come the Chiefs who beat the Chargers in Week 1. Can the Chiefs do the same? I would say Yes, but Chargers rarely lose 2 in a row, let alone in the division. This year the Chargers are dealing with too many issues from Vincent Jackson, to Merriman. This game being a home game, the Chargers have a good chance to narrow their deficit against the Chiefs. Chargers win this game, will it be a defensive struggle for both teams or will it be a shootout? Chargers win.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys: Cowboys won a thriller in Indianapolis with an overtime victory. Its a shame for the Eagles that they have to play the Cowboys this late in the season instead of earlier in the season when the Cowboys were not doing so well. Cowboys have been playing well and their defense has stepped up on occasion. Can Michael Vick get past the hurdle Donavan McNabb couldn't last year? I believe so. The multitalented Vick should put on a show at the Cowboy stadium. Eagles need to keep pace with the New York Giants. The only way the Eagles can get in the playoffs is through a division championship because of the other tight races going on in NFC North and NFC South. It is a must win game for the Eagles more so for the Cowboys who are just playing spoilers. Eagles need to step up their defense and need to rattle Jon Kitna, otherwise the Eagles will have a tough time matching up against the many receivers that Cowboys employ. Very close game, with the Eagles winning on the road.

Baltimore Ravens @ Houston Texans: Ravens had a tough game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 12 and that loss was a tough pill to swallow. The Houston Texans provide an excellent matchup for the Ravens because they need to get their pent up frustration out and it will suck for Matt Schaub. Arian Foster should have a very tough time against this hard tackling Ravens team and I don't expect Ed Reed to lose Andre Johnson out in the open. Ravens win.

Which team will be the NFC Wild Card team?

  • Philadelphia Eagles
  • New York Giants
  • Green Bay Packers

Yeah, yeah...Eagles, eh? We'll see...We're hungrier and more confident now (finally) than we were when we last played you guys. It's going to be fun and yes, it will be close! Giants/Eagles is a inter-divisional rivalry older than the hills.

Aside from that, I like your picks. Carolina might not lose by THAT much, however. That Pats defense has a LOT of questions to answer and Seymour to the Raiders was nuts at the beginning of the season! I don't think they ever filled the his void.

Good stuff!

The Pats will win, but the dynasty is in rebuilding mode. And the Chargers are finally starting to play some decent D over the course of the last month. They are pretty much only giving up field goals in the red zone now.I myself am taking the raiders over the Skins and the G-Men and the Eagles is definitely a tough call. But I gotta takr the Giants at home last week woke them up out of their slumber

Thank you all for your feedback. It is definitely an important week in the NFL. I am just wondering teams like Redskins, Raiders, Detroit and St. Louis? Why do they even bother trying to win games at this point of the season? Why not try your best and then find a way to lose? First round pick in next year's draft is crucial for any of these teams.

pride?

I guess pride matters to a certain point but I would think winning matters more and thats the only way to gain the pride. There is no pride in losing I agree but is pride more important than winning games in the future? Plus next year is an uncapped year in football, I wonder if any of these teams will jump on that opportunity go crazy with signing players and over paying them. I know the Redskins, Cowboys will definitely throw all of their money out there.

No way no how are the Bucs beating the Jets......its going to be a low scoring game with the Jets grinding out a win with their superior running game and their awesome defense.
